middle rio grande valley ... eastern slopes of the central
mountains ... adjacent eastern highlands and eastern plains due to
strong winds and low humidities...
... fire weather watch in effect friday for the east central
plains due to strong winds and low humidities...
. a potent upper level low pressure system will move across the
four corners area today and combinewith a deepening surface low
pressure center over southeast colorado to produce widespread
strong winds. the strongest winds are expected along and northeast
of the southwest mountains into the rio grande valley ... central
mountains ... and eastern plains. humidity recoveries leading into
this event are poor and will follow a couple very warm days and
nights. gusty winds will continue over ridgetops tonight and
spread into the east central plains again friday. additional
critical fire weather conditions are possible for the east central
plains.

mdt friday. the high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* winds ... west winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts near 60 mph.
* impacts ... these winds will make driving difficult for
motorists driving high profile vehicles such as campers...
vans ... and tractor trailers. aviation interests may experience
localized but extreme turbulence. pilots should be alert for
standing wave clouds or other evidence of mountain wave
activity.
