TUCSON, Ariz. — Authorities say a fire in Cochise County destroyed
four homes and forced several residents to evacuate.
Cochise County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas says theblaze
occurred Saturday afternoon in an area about 22 miles east of Benson.
The Arizona Daily Star reports ( http://bit.ly/I1thVe ) that about
eight people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and a
firefighter was treated for heat related issues.
Capas says firefighters responded at 2:30 p.m. after a man told
authorities he was conducting a controlled burn on hisproperty.
The paper says the blaze destroyed the four homes, some sheds and
garages and about 12 vehicles.

Capas says the fire is under investigation.
A sheriff's spokesperson didn't immediately respond to a call late
Saturday for further comment.
