All this week the U.S. Navy is conducting security exercises to
determine the ability of naval security forces to respond to real
world threats.
Two exercises will be held simultaneously in and around the Navy Base
in Panama City Beach. They have been dubbed "Solid Curtain-Citadel
Shield".
Each exercise will focus on different areas of the base testing the
readiness of the security forcesand how effectively they react to real
world threats.
The exercises will be conducted through Saturday. And that day's
activities may affect traffic flow along Thomas Drive.
Cmdr. Anthony Anglin, USN, Commanding Officer, NSA told us it's all
part of an annual exercise and is not being conducted in response to
any specific threat."Obviously we have the exercise going on. But at
any time if you see something that doesn't look right we always
welcome the report. We would rather get the report check it out and
find out if its a false alarm versus not get thereport and find out
there's something going on that we could have prevented."
Base officials say the exercise is being held throughout the
continental united states.
