Teams Bring Summer Heat in Division Races
Harper The Yankees have won eight of their past 10 games, taking over the competitive AL East on the strength of a recent 10-game winning streak. The Bombers will play both teams at the top of the AL Central division -- Cleveland and Chicago -- next week. The Rangers have used the league's most prolific offense to build the widest divisional lead in baseball, and only one other West team -- the Angels -- has a winning record. The Nationals, backed by twin aces Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez, have taken control of the NL East and weathered a difficult Interleague schedule. The Reds and Pirates have emerged as the class of the NL Central, but defending World Series champion St. Louis is lurking not far behind, and the Dodgers maintain a firm grip on the NL West despite the extended absence of Matt Kemp.
