Hotel Ilark

We came across this hotel after walking-out of Kutch Safari Lodge.
Immediate impressions are favourable. Located in Bhujitself, this
small hotel is set-back from the busy road, providing some welcome
relief from the noise. The Check-in staff were very helpful and
efficient. The rooms are basic but clean, with TV (not much English
though) and overhead fan. The bathroom is OK with great and enjoyable
water pressure in the hot shower. Towels could be newer but hey, you
can't have everything! Like so many places in India, maintenance is
not a priority.
Laundry in before 0930 returned early evening at modest cost.
Restaurant food is high quality and reasonably priced, again with helpful staff.
Money changing (GBP, USD) at front desk. (Thereare bank ATMs withiin 5
minute walk).
The hotel gift shop supports a local communityand is competitively priced.
Comfortable lobby has freewi-fi (where I'm writing this!).
I have rated the hotel excellent because it is verygood in its class:
its no Imperial (Delhi) but it achieves highly in its class(probably
what many would class as a 3 star).

This hotel was obviously very smart in it's day but has faded a bit
over the years, a lot of the surfaces in the room are wood so are
looking a bit shabby now, some of the blinds and lights were broken,
some things were missing like the shower curtain, it has a fridge but
it didn't seem to work and the sheets were old (one just had a rough
edge on one side, the hem had beentorn off). But on the plus side the
room was relatively quiet, the aircon efficient (with a fan in the
room also), the room was agood size with a seating area and it was the
only one we stayed in in India that had a bath (and plug!)which was
welcome. The room was clean with no sign of ants (as others
hadmentioned). There was a huge selection of toiletriesin the bathroom
including ashaving kit and toothbrushand toothpaste and the toilet had
a good flush on it which can't be said for all hotels. There was a
good sized flat screen TV with a couple of English channels. The hotel
has a grand entrance and a gift shop selling local crafts. There is a
good choice at breakfast including fresh fruit juice.
Overall although it is fadedwe found it restful, in fact we had the
best nights sleep we had all holiday there. Looking out of the window
to the tin huts behind it felt like luxury in comparison.

Finding a good hotel in Bhuj was difficult and a guesthouse may have
beena better option than Hotel Ilark. We looked at several hotels in
the same area and Ilark was the best although the room was overpriced
and it was an unfinished, poorly planned,builder's nightmare. The
shower didn't work properly.The restaurant was very popular, locally.
The manager finally came to the party and helped us to hire a guide
and car but overall the service was reluctant. Bhuj seems to be
struggling 10 years on from the quake.

I stayed on a family vacation in April 2011 in this hotel. The hotel
was excellent - neat & clean, get-up is very good, well maintained,
good service and excellent food. It has good parking space. The
restaurant is very good and serves variety of food.Its a fantastic
hotel for business as well as vacation with family. I will strongly
recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel in the first few years of when it was
built and was good at that time. I stayedthere in October 2010 and the
rooms have not been maintained. It now has dirty rooms and the toilet
did not flush after changing 2 rooms. I would not stay here again. The
food in the resturant in average. The rooms are very dirty and has a
lot of ants.

Fantastic hotel - great restaurant with excellent thalis! Friendly
staff! There was some noise in the evenings from the staff room
(banging of doors), but once we complained this was sortedout. All the
staff were extremely helpful, both during check-in and check-out and
throughout our stay. The restaurant gets booked quickly at lunch so
reservations are recommended. Would definitely stay here on my next
visit!
