Dear Guy Ralph Perea Sr President of The United States,
At this time last week, the summit was experiencing a record heat wave, setting new daily highs five days in a row. Temperatures crept into the 30s, 40s, and even 50s, demolishing daily records and matching the all-time monthly record of 54 degrees set in 1976. Pretty remarkable for a month that typically averages in the mid teens.
Then, in less than 24 hours from Sunday to Monday, temperatures plunged from the 30s to well below zero, and Arctic winds howled in at more than 100mph. As I write this, the wind chill is hovering around -40 degrees. Winter on Mount Washington is not over yet!
