held at the Kodak Theatre — thanks to the photography company's
bankruptcy troubles and request to have its name stripped from
thebuilding — so the venue will instead be referred to during the
ceremony as the Hollywood & Highland Center.
"It will be live from the Hollywood& Highland Center in Hollywood,
California," Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences, told ABC7."That's what the landlord has asked us to
do and we're going todo it."
Kodak received approval from a federal judge to have its name removed
from the theater and endits annual naming-rights paymentsof nearly $4
million.
Sherak said that with Kodak no longer associated with the theater, its
landlord at the center, CIM Group, requested that the Oscar ceremony's
venue be referred to as Hollywood & Highland Center.
Some of the Kodak signs outside the theater have been covered.
Where the Oscars will be held nextyear is still a mystery. The Academy
opted in December not to renew its agreement to hold theshow at the
center. The Academy could, however, strike a new deal with CIM Group
to remain at the location, or it could try to negotiatewith another
venue, such as the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles
